Moving your INUMC.org email to a personal Gmail Account
If you are leaving the conference, retiring, or moving to another conference, you may be wanting to retain all of your old emails for future reference.
To do this, you can set up a Gmail account with Google and use the following steps to import your INUMC emails into that Gmail account.
First, you will need to adjust the settings on your inumc.org email account to allow Gmail to import.
- Open your inumc.org email account by going to mail.inumc.org and signing in with your inumc.org email address and password.
- Click on the gear icon in the top right and click on see all settings.
- Click on Forwarding and POP/IMAP.
- Click Enable POP for all mail.
- Click save changes.
You will also need to turn off 2 Factor Authentication and Enable Less Secure Apps
- Click on your account icon, which may be your first initial, in the top right of the screen.
- Click Manage your google account
- Click Security in the menu on the left column.
- Scroll down and follow the steps to disable 2 Factor Authentication if it is enabled.
- Once complete, scroll to the bottom and follow the steps to enable access by "less secure apps"
Now that you have changed the settings in your INUMC.org account, you will need to work in your personal Gmail account to complete the import process.
- Open your new Gmail account.
- Click on the gear icon in the top right and click on see all settings.
- Click on Accounts and Import.
- Click on check email in other accounts>Add a mail account.
- Enter your account information username (your full email), password, pop server (pop.gmail.com), and change the port number to 995.
- Check the second and third boxes.
- Click Add Account
That's it, you're done. Gmail will start to import your old mail from the account. The process is not instantaneous, and depending on how much mail is in there, it could take a little while.
If you are seeking to move your inumc.org emails to another service, such as hotmail or aol, please check with those services for the best method of migration.
