October 8: Upcoming Email Migration to Microsoft 365

Please note, references to inumc.com have been marked with a strikethrough as users will continue to have their inumc.org address.

Dear All,

We are excited to announce that we will be migrating our conference staff email accounts from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365. This strategic move is driven by our commitment to enhancing collaboration, improving communication, and optimizing our technology ecosystem to better serve our mission.

Why We Are Migrating:

Enhanced Collaboration: Microsoft 365 offers robust tools such as Teams and SharePoint, which facilitate real-time collaboration and communication among staff members, allowing us to work more effectively together.
Improved Integration: The integration with other Microsoft services like OneDrive allows for seamless file sharing and management, streamlining our workflows.
Better Security and Compliance: Microsoft 365 provides enhanced security features and compliance tools that protect our data and meet our organizational standards.
Unified User Experience: By migrating to Microsoft 365, we will have a unified login process for all applications, simplifying access for staff.

Migration Details:

Email, Calendaring, and Contacts: All email accounts, calendars, and contacts will be migrated to Microsoft 365.
All Emails: All existing emails to name@inumc.org will be migrated to your new @inumc.com address.
New Email Addresses: All conference staff emails will transition from @inumc.org to @inumc.com addresses.
Automatic Forwarding: New emails sent to the old @inumc.org addresses will automatically forward to your new @inumc.com address, ensuring no communication is lost during the transition.
Logging In: After the migration, you will log in to Office 365 using your new name@inumc.com email address.
Outlook Assistance: If you are currently using Outlook to access your emails, we will assist you with updating Outlook to connect to your new Microsoft email account.
Email Access: After the migration is complete, you will be able to access your email at outlook.office.com.
Availability of Features: After the migration, many features previously available in Google Workspace will still be accessible, ensuring a smooth transition.

Important Timeline:

Planning Phase: September 2024
Preparation Phase: Now – November 1, 2024
Migration Phase: November 1 - December 2, 2024
Final Migration (when you will start using your new email): December 2, 2024
